In a significant move to improve access to safe and clean water, as well as enhance the learning environment, the Alumni Association of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos has completed three boreholes for the institution. The Project, personally commissioned in February 2025, by Dr. Adeniyi Olatunde Adenuga, Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos, aims to address longstanding water supply challenges, and demonstrate the impact of Alumni-led development initiatives in tertiary education in Nigeria.

The commissioning ceremony, held on the Campus, brought together members of the College Management, staff, students, and the President and representatives of the Alumni body. The Project underscores the growing role of former students in supporting infrastructure upgrades and promoting health and sanitation standards in schools across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Adeniyi Olatunde Adenuga, who now serves as the Chairman of the Governing Council at the Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State and former Council Chair at FCE (Technical), Akoka, Lagos —highlighted the importance of reliable water access in promoting hygiene, preventing waterborne diseases, and creating a conducive learning environment. He described the Project as a vital contribution to student welfare and operational efficiency.

Dr. Adenuga expressed deep appreciation to the members of the Alumni Association for their initiatives and commitments, describing it as a model of stakeholder-driven development in the education sector. He also pledged to work with partners at his new post in Iwo to position the College as a centre of innovation and teacher training excellence.

The Project reflects the power of Alumni engagement in addressing infrastructural gaps and advancing the well-being of students, staff, and host communities.
