The Federal Ministry of Education has taken decisive steps to address the growing issue of bullying in schools across the country by establishing a 7-member committee. This move reinforces the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, emphasized the urgent need for effective interventions, highlighting the psychological impact of bullying on students. The committee will review reported cases and ensure swift action, complementing the efforts of a 21-member team working on the National Policy on Anti-Bullying.
To facilitate confidential reporting of bullying incidents, the Ministry has introduced the following channels:
Hotline: 09012660044
Email: antibullying@education.gov.ng
WhatsApp: 08052536133
Dr. Alausa reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, urging school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to support this initiative. He stressed that creating a safe learning environment is essential for the holistic development of students.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes education as a key driver of national development. The Ministry’s efforts aim to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity in schools across Nigeria.
