The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for Nigerian athletes as they prepare for international competitions.
Speaking at the conclusion of this year’s Athletics Federation of Nigeria National Trials in Benin City, Senator Enoh highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting Nigerian athletes as they compete globally in athletics.
He noted that Nigerian athletes have consistently showcased their prowess beyond the continent and stressed the government’s responsibility to provide them with comprehensive support.
Senator Enoh underscored the crucial role of the Trials in preparing Nigeria’s top athletes for the upcoming Olympics in Paris.
He commended the athletes for their dedication and outstanding performances, acknowledging that many achieved personal bests and secured qualifications for the Olympics during the trials.
The AFN National Trials served as the platform for selecting Nigeria’s representatives for the upcoming Olympics in Paris, the Senior Athletics Championship in Cameroon, and the World Under 20 Athletics Championship in Peru.
