Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has committed to compensating residents affected by the ongoing construction of Arterial Road N5, a critical development linking Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III. During his inspection of the project sites, including Life Camp, Katampe, and the International Conference Centre in Abuja, Wike acknowledged the importance of the project for improving infrastructure and connectivity across the capital city.
The construction, initiated on October 25, involves a four-kilometer, six-lane dual carriageway that serves as a significant segment of the larger Arterial Road N5, also known as Obafemi Awolowo Way. As a high-traffic route, the road is expected to ease congestion and streamline access across multiple districts. The Minister highlighted that the project, managed by Julius Berger, would inevitably impact several structures, including residential buildings and cash crops along the proposed route.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the construction efforts, noting that the initiative has been well-received by communities along the road corridor. “The residents have shown a remarkable understanding of the project’s benefits and see this development as a necessary step for the FCT’s progress,” Wike commented. He further stated that the ministry remains committed to maintaining clear communication with affected individuals to ensure a fair and transparent compensation process.
Upon completion, Arterial Road N5 will significantly enhance connectivity across key districts, including Kado, Karmo, Gwarimpa I, Dape, Ido-Gwari, Saburi, and Dei Dei, supporting Abuja’s growth as a well-integrated and accessible metropolis.
