Africa’s two remaining teams in the men’s football event at the Paris Olympics, Egypt and Morocco, have been eliminated from contention for the final.
In their semi-final match, Jean-Philippe Mateta scored twice to lead France to a three-one victory over 10-man Egypt after extra time.
This victory secured France’s place in the final, where they will compete for their first medal in the tournament in 40 years against Spain on Friday.
In the other semi-final, Morocco was defeated by Spain by one-two.
As a result, Egypt and Morocco will face each other in the bronze medal match on Thursday.
