Ezekiel Nathaniel Makes History as First Nigerian in 12 Years to Reach 400m Hurdles Semifinals

Nigerian Athlete, Ezekiel Nathaniel has advanced to the semifinals of the men’s four hundred metres hurdles at the Paris Olympics.

Nathaniel secured his spot in the next round by finishing second in his heat with a time of forty-eight point four-eight seconds.

He is the first Nigerian to reach the semifinals in this event in 12 years, following Amaechi Morton’s achievement at the London 2012 Olympics.

In contrast, Chidi Okezie did not advance to the semifinals of the men’s four hundred metres, finishing fifth in the second heat of the repêchage round.

Okezie will now focus on preparing for his role in Nigeria’s men’s four by four hundred metres relay team.

Additionally, Ella Onojuvwevwo and Esther Elo-Joseph will compete in the repêchage rounds on Tuesday, aiming to secure their places in the semifinals of the women’s four hundred metres.
