Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Isere, over alleged unauthorised fundraising activities linked to the forthcoming Oil and Gas Summit.
The suspension was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor.
“In view of the foregoing, the proposed summit is hereby suspended, and Felix Isere has been ordered to refund all monies collected to the various donors,” the statement read.
The oil and gas summit, initially scheduled to commence on August 7, has now been put on hold indefinitely.
Prospective donors were also cautioned against further dealings with the suspended adviser as the state government investigates the matter.
