The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled a record-breaking $10.4 million prize pool for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), marking a significant boost in financial rewards for participating teams.
In a major increase from previous editions, the tournament winners will now receive $3.5 million — a 75% jump from the $2 million awarded at the last CHAN.
CAF also confirmed that the runners-up will earn $1.2 million, while third and fourth-placed teams will receive $700,000 and $600,000 respectively. Each of the four quarter-finalists will pocket $450,000.
For the first time, group-stage participants are also guaranteed earnings. Teams finishing third in their groups will take home $300,000, while those in fourth place will receive $200,000.
The 2024 CHAN, which features national teams comprised exclusively of players active in their home countries, continues to grow in prestige, with the increased prize pool seen as a major step toward further professionalising the tournament.
