Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that teenage attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri will be sidelined for several weeks due to a muscular injury.
The 17-year-old was forced to come off at half-time during Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brighton, having scored the opening goal of the match.
Nwaneri, who made his first Premier League start just three days earlier in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory over Brentford, has been a standout performer this season. The England Under-19 international’s goal on Saturday marked his fifth in 18 appearances for the Gunners.
The young midfielder had seen increased playing time following a hamstring injury to Bukayo Saka, with the influential winger now expected to be out for an extended period.
