The All Progressives Congress (APC) has marked the first anniversary of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as its National Chairman, describing his leadership as a defining period that has strengthened the party and positioned it for success in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Sokoto by the Chairman’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Yusuf Dingyadi, the ruling party said the past year has been devoted to rebuilding internal trust, promoting unity and repositioning the APC for future political contests.

According to the statement, Yilwatda assumed office at a time of significant political challenges but quickly introduced measures aimed at restoring confidence within the party.

The APC said his leadership has focused on reconciliation, broad consultations and institutional reforms, which it believes have eased internal tensions and fostered greater cohesion among party members.

The party also credited Yilwatda with strengthening internal democracy through deliberate efforts to reconcile aggrieved members and reintegrate them into the party, a move it said has reinforced the APC’s presence across the country.

It further praised what it described as the chairman’s inclusive leadership style, noting that it has improved collaboration among members of the National Working Committee, party elders and other stakeholders, resulting in renewed confidence in the party.

The statement added that administrative operations at the party’s National Secretariat have become more efficient, transparent and accountable under Yilwatda’s leadership, while structures at the ward, local government and state levels have also been revitalised to improve service delivery to members.

The APC further highlighted increased engagement with young people, women, persons with disabilities and grassroots supporters, describing the outreach as part of a broader strategy to consolidate support and strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.
