The Bayelsa State Police Command has a new Commissioner of Police, following the assumption of duty by CP Ajao Saka Adewale.
Adewale took over from Daniel Iyamah, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The new Commissioner of Police officially assumed duty in Bayelsa State on August 12, 2026.
Before his latest appointment, Adewale served in different senior positions within the Nigeria Police Force, including as Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration at the Force Criminal Investigation Department and as Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory Command, Abuja.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Musa Mohammed, described the new police commissioner as a seasoned and highly experienced officer with a record of integrity in policing, security operations and crime fighting.
CP Adewale is expected to lead the command’s efforts towards maintaining law and order and strengthening security across Bayelsa State.
