Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman scored a crucial goal for his Italian club, Atalanta, as they secured their place in the Europa League final with a four-one aggregate victory over French side Marseille on Thursday night.
Lookman found the net on the half-hour mark with a deflected strike that drifted beyond visiting keeper Pau Lopez into the bottom corner.
Matteo Ruggeri and El Bilal Toure added further goals for Atalanta, marking their first final appearance in European competition.
Atalanta will now face coach Xabi Alonso’s unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen side at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on May 22 in the Europa League Final.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen set a new European unbeaten record of 49 successive games by securing a late draw with Roma, clinching their spot in the final.
Josip Stanisic scored with the last kick of the game in the 97th minute to earn Leverkusen a two-two draw on the night and a four-two aggregate victory.
