The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, and the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, have introduced a one-time payment of N4,000 for the verification of O’Level results used for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Under the new arrangement, candidates seeking admission through JAMB will verify their WAEC results once, with the outcome made available to the institution where they are seeking admission.
The two examination bodies say the initiative is aimed at ending repeated verification charges imposed on candidates by different institutions and reducing the financial and administrative burden associated with the admission process.
Candidates are required to make the N4,000 payment only through the designated JAMB Verification Service platform and should not make additional payments to individual institutions for verification of the same result.
Tertiary institutions have also been directed to accept the verified results provided by JAMB for admission screening, processing and other related purposes.
WAEC has authorised JAMB to share verification outcomes with relevant institutions, eliminating the need for candidates to repeat the process during the same admission exercise.
JAMB and WAEC say candidates can complete the verification online from any internet-enabled location, reducing the need for repeated visits to tertiary institutions or JAMB-approved Computer-Based Test centres.
