The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, has expressed sadness over the death of veteran Nigerian actor, Chief Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo.
Musawa described the late actor as a major figure in Nollywood and a strong promoter of Yoruba culture whose career contributed significantly to Nigerian storytelling and the growth of the creative industry.
In a statement, the minister said Ogogo’s talent, discipline and dedication influenced generations of actors, directors and producers while helping to project Nigeria’s cultural heritage to audiences at home and abroad.
She noted that although the entertainment industry has lost one of its prominent figures, his legacy will live on through his films and the people he inspired throughout his career.
Musawa extended her condolences to Hassan’s family, colleagues in Nollywood, fans and the people of Ogun State, while praying for strength for those mourning his death and for the repose of his soul.
