Italian club Como have agreed a deal worth more than £30 million to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The agreement will see Chelsea receive an initial £25.7 million, with an additional £5.1 million in performance-related add-ons following lengthy negotiations between both clubs.
Chalobah is expected to sign a long-term contract and take on a leadership role under manager Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas, the former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder, has reportedly been pursuing the defender for more than six months.
Como secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League after finishing fourth in Serie A last season, and the signing of Chalobah is expected to strengthen the club’s defence ahead of the new campaign.
