The Federal Government says it has invested more than ₦1 trillion in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector over the past two years as part of efforts to expand access and improve learning infrastructure across the country.
Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, disclosed this during a meeting with the National Committee for the Advancement of Occupational Therapy, Audiology and Speech Therapy Education.
Alausa said the Tinubu administration has committed ₦250 billion to the construction of new student hostels and more than ₦150 billion to the rehabilitation of academic facilities.
He added that over ₦130 billion has been allocated to medical schools, alongside additional investments in medical equipment, simulation laboratories and engineering workshops across tertiary institutions nationwide.
According to the minister, the investments are designed to strengthen teaching, research, practical training and skills development while improving the quality of higher education.
Alausa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities, stressing that financial difficulties should not prevent qualified Nigerians from accessing higher education.
