The presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), Arch. Dr. Peter Agada, has pledged to revitalise Nigeria’s economy through a digital governance model known as LabourDirect if elected president in 2027.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Abuja, Agada described the LabourDirect platform as the centrepiece of his presidential manifesto, noting that it has evolved from a policy document into a live digital government platform.
According to him, the initiative is built around a 50-point Executive Order framework aimed at bypassing state and local government intermediaries to deliver government services directly to citizens.
Agada outlined several key components of the proposal. He said the Direct Funding initiative (EO 001) would allocate about 15 percent of Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) funds directly to wards, amounting to approximately ₦4 billion per ward every month.
On employment and social welfare, he said EO 017 would provide ₦50,000 monthly support for unemployed Nigerians while creating about one million jobs within the first 12 months through ward clusters.
For security, Agada explained that EO 011 and EO 014 would establish AI-powered community ward security systems capable of providing real-time crime surveillance and reporting.
He also promised reforms in healthcare and education through EO 005 and EO 009, including free primary healthcare services, free essential drugs, and free WAEC and JAMB vouchers for eligible Nigerians.
On infrastructure, he said EO 006 and EO 010 would focus on affordable housing linked to employment opportunities and the installation of solar-powered mini-grids in every ward.
Agada further stated that EO 030 and EO 050 would strengthen justice delivery by introducing 90-day court trials and an open treasury system that would allow citizens to track government spending through the LabourDirect online dashboard.
He added that the policy would also establish Agro-Industrial Clusters across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to transform the country from a consumption-driven economy into a production and export-based economy.
The YPP candidate announced that the Labour Direct Information Network (LIN) Version 0.1 would be launched nationwide in August 2026, enabling citizens to register, monitor local government budgets and report irregularities before the party assumes office.
Agada expressed confidence that the platform would help the party mobilise support across all 774 local government areas, describing YPP as a merit-based party without godfatherism or tribal politics.
He disclosed that Operation Digitalise 774 was already active through the platform, with over 1,500 ward stewards currently being recruited and a target of 25 million registrations on the Labour Direct Information Network by December 2026.
Providing details about his background, Agada said he is a 54-year-old architect, founder of Cyrus Group, former Director of Finance of the Obidient Movement, and founder of the LabourDirect ideology. He noted that he has more than 29 years of experience in architecture, infrastructure and acoustic engineering, and previously served in the “Big Tent” shadow government, where he developed policy proposals that now form the foundation of the LabourDirect initiative.
