VANDAL CRITICALLY INJURED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STEAL FROM TRANSFORMER

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the electrocution of a suspected vandal, Mr. Muktar Rabiu, while attempting to steal components from a transformer on November 28, 2024.

In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that Mr. Rabiu, who had previously been arrested for stealing high-voltage cables, was given a light sentence of community service and 42 strokes of cane. Despite this, he returned to his criminal activities.

During his latest attempt to tamper with a transformer, he suffered severe electrocution, leaving him critically injured. He is currently receiving medical treatment and will face fresh charges once he recovers, according to the statement.

The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure and warned against illegal activities targeting public utilities. Authorities urged residents to report any suspicious behavior to ensure community safety and protect essential infrastructure.
