The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Hajia Aisha Garba, has urged School Support Officers (SSOs) nationwide to renew their commitment to delivering quality basic education to Nigerian children. She made this call during a three-day training workshop in Abuja, themed “Empowering SSOs to Champion and Support Technology Integration.”
Hajia Garba emphasized the importance of effectively implementing the Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme, stressing that SSOs play a critical role in ensuring the success of basic education initiatives across the country.
The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) School Support Officers by equipping them with skills in educational technologies, communication, and collaboration. These skills are essential for monitoring and mentoring teachers and administrators to improve learning outcomes.
Prof. Bashir Galadanci, National Coordinator of the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, highlighted the crucial role of SSOs in supporting school personnel and ensuring the effective integration of technology in education.
The training is part of UBEC’s broader efforts to strengthen basic education in Nigeria, addressing concerns over the state of educational institutions nationwide. It underscores the Commission’s commitment to leveraging technology and capacity building to improve the quality of education for Nigerian children.
