Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has been handed a seven-match domestic ban by the English Football Association for using a racial slur directed at his teammate Son Heung-min.
In addition to the suspension, the 27-year-old has been fined a hundred thousand pounds.
The charges stem from comments Bentancur made during a television interview in his home country of Uruguay in June, which were later brought to light by the Football Association in September.
Bentancur will be sidelined from domestic competition until 26th December, missing key Premier League fixtures against Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea
He will also miss Tottenham’s League Cup quarterfinal against Manchester United.
