President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the infrastructural and economic advancement of Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at a ceremony in Uyo on Saturday to welcome Governor Umo Eno into the All Progressives Congress (APC), the President assured that the Federal Government is fully prepared to collaborate with the state government to deliver impactful infrastructure projects and stimulate economic growth across the state.
Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, described Governor Eno’s defection as a symbolic reunification of Akwa Ibom State with the rest of the country. He praised the governor for engaging in broad consultations before joining the APC.
While presenting the party’s flag to Governor Eno, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, applauded the governor for choosing national integration over political isolation. He emphasized that all new members, regardless of their previous affiliations, are entitled to full rights and participation within the APC.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside the APC South-South Coordinating Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, described the defection as a long-awaited achievement. They expressed optimism that the entire South-South region will unite under the APC, crediting President Tinubu for spearheading economic reforms and driving infrastructural renewal across Nigeria.
In his response, Governor Umo Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible development outcomes through collaborative partnerships that transcend political boundaries.
