President Bola Tinubu on Thursday visited the Dangote Refinery in Lagos, describing it as a “massive investment” and a “great phenomenon of our time” while commending its significance as a model infrastructure project in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
During the visit, the President also commissioned the access road to the Lekki Deep Sea Port, which he initially conceptualised during his tenure as Lagos State Governor. The road was completed under the Federal Government’s Tax Credit Road programme by Dangote Industries Limited and its subcontractor, Hitech Construction Company.
“Having inspected the Dangote refinery, which is a great point of reference and a massive investment, I want to thank Aliko Dangote,” Tinubu said in a statement from the State House.
The President praised the economic impact of the Lekki Deep Sea Port, noting that it has drastically reduced logistics costs for businesses by eliminating the need for trans-shipment of goods.
“I am happy that the Deep Sea Port I initiated as Governor of Lagos State is a huge success today. Users save vast amounts of money using this port because they no longer need to trans-ship their goods,” he said.
In response, Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote thanked President Tinubu for his foresight in initiating the port project and assured him of the private sector’s continued support in driving national infrastructure development.
