Despite the recent flood disaster that claimed lives and displaced residents in Mokwa, Niger State, hundreds of Muslim worshippers gathered at the Dzuko Eid prayer ground on Friday to observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers.
Led by the Chief Imam of Mokwa Local Government, Mohammed Ibn Mohammed, the faithful came together in a display of unity and resilience to observe the two Rakat prayers.
Prior to the commencement of the prayers, the secretary of the Mokwa Central Mosque, Baba Tswale Mokwa, addressed the congregation, reiterating the Niger State government’s directive suspending all Sallah festivities, including the traditional Durbar, out of respect for those affected by the flooding.
He also announced that a special prayer would be offered for the souls of the victims of the flood.
Among the attendees was the paramount traditional ruler of Mokwa, the Ndalele of Mokwa, Mohammed Aliyu Shaba, alongside prominent Islamic clerics and community leaders.
The Dzuko Eid ground was filled with worshippers, many of whom, despite the recent tragedy, gathered in faith and reflection to mark the solemn occasion.
