All the 109 protesters arrested by the Police at the instance of nationwide hunger protest in Sokoto State have been remanded in prison custody by a Mobile Court at its seatings on Thursday and Friday at the State Police Command.
The Protesters arrested on day one and day two of the nationwide hunger protest were presented to the Court by the Police before the Presiding Judge Justice Umar Idris Marafa.
After hearing the plea from the suspected protesters, the Presiding Judge adjoined the Hearing over the matter to the 15th of August 2024 for continuation and ordered the suspects to be remanded in prison pending the date appointed by the court.
The Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Rufae confirmed the development of the Mobile Court Seatings held at the premises of the command.
He said all the protesters arrested by the police were currently in prison custody pending the date set for continuation of hearing on the matter.
The protest has since been suspended in the State by the conveners as a result of the inactions of some miscreants who masqueraded themselves among protesters to vandalize public utilities and unleash terror on traders in the State metropolis.
