Senator Godswill Akpabio Hosts Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Traditional Council

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has received in courtesy, the Traditional Council of Ado Ekiti, led by the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.

In the company of Senator Akpabio to receive the Monarch, were the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Jibrin Barau, Senators, and Members of the House of Representatives from Ekiti extraction, among others.

Senator Akpabio commended the Ewi of Ado Ekiti for his dedication to preserving and promoting Nigeria’s cultural heritage and expressed his anticipation for the upcoming festivities.

Earlier, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Rufus Adejugbe Aladesanmi the Third, said his visit was to extend a formal invitation to the President of the Senate to attend the upcoming Udiroko New Yam Festival.

He commended Senator Akpabio, for availing himself to serve the nation at this critical time.

The high point of the visit was the presentation of Plague to the Ewi by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The Udiroko New Yam Festival is an ancient cultural festival celebrated by the people of Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State. It marks the end of the farming season and the beginning of a new harvest.
