Senate to Fully Participate in Burial of Late Pa Edwin Clark – Akpabio

Date:

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has assured that the Senate will be fully involved in the burial arrangements of Pa Edwin Clark, the elder statesman who passed away on Monday.

Akpabio gave this assurance on Wednesday when a delegation from the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), led by its National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, paid him a visit at the National Assembly to formally convey news of Clark’s demise.

The Senate President informed the delegation that earlier in the day, the Senate observed a minute of silence in honor of Pa Edwin Clark, who was himself a former Senator.

Speaking further, Akpabio described Pa Edwin Clark as not just any Nigerian, but a Pan-Africanist, emphasizing his role as an iconic leader who championed the cause of minorities across the country, particularly in the Niger Delta region.

On behalf of PANDEF, Ambassador Igali stated that the delegation’s visit was necessary to inform Senator Akpabio, as the most senior politician from the South-South and the Niger Delta, about the passing of a father figure, Chief Edwin Clark.

With tributes pouring in from various quarters, the Senate’s commitment to honoring the late statesman further underscores Clark’s lasting impact on national discourse and regional advocacy.
