Senate Establishes Ad-Hoc Committee to Probe Mambilla Hydroelectric Transactions

Date:

The Red Chamber has established an Ad-Hoc Committee to investigate transactions in the Mambilla Hydroelectric.

The resolutions were adopted after a motion moved by Senator Manu Haruna representing Taraba Central, on the Urgent need to address the challenges of commencing the Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project.

In his Motion, the Lawmaker highlighted previous governments’ failure to prioritize the national project with its capacity to generate 3050 megawatts.

In their contributions, other Senators asserted that the Mambilla Hydro Project is non-existent, describing it as a dubious process.

In his remarks, Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin said lack of power supply had plunged the country into further hardship.
