Russian forces have reclaimed three more settlements in the Kursk region, intensifying their efforts to expel Ukrainian troops from occupied territory seven months after a cross-border incursion.
The Russian Defence Ministry revealed on Sunday that its troops secured Malaya Lokhnya, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, and Kositsa, located north of Sudzha, as they continue to push back Ukrainian forces. Reports suggest that Russian special forces executed a covert operation, moving 16 km through a gas pipeline near Sudzha before ambushing Ukrainian troops.
Pro-Russian sources claim that Kyiv’s forces in Kursk are now nearly encircled, with Russia making rapid territorial gains. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev declared that the offensive will continue as Russia seeks to close in on remaining Ukrainian positions.
