Imo Police Command Debunks Missing Persons Claims, Confirms Neutralization of Suspect

Date:

The Imo State Police Command has dismissed viral social media reports alleging the disappearance of some individuals, describing such claims as false and misleading.

In an official statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, clarified that the individual in question, Oluchukwu Elekwachi, was involved in an attack on police officers, which triggered a manhunt leading to his neutralization.

According to the police, Elekwachi sustained fatal injuries during a gun duel with security operatives on September 11, 2024, and was later confirmed dead at a hospital. His remains were deposited at the Federal Medical Center, Owerri, and a pump-action gun was recovered from him.

DSP Okoye identified Elekwachi as a notorious kidnapper from Amara, Ikeduru LGA, and a key member of the proscribed Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The police urged the public to rely on verified information from official sources rather than being misled by false narratives on social media.
