Russia launched a record 479 drones at Ukraine in an overnight assault, Ukraine’s air force reported on Monday, marking the largest drone attack since the start of the war.
Airstrikes were recorded across 10 locations, with damage reported in several regions, including the western city of Rivne. Mayor Oleksandr Tretyak described it as “the largest attack” on the area since the war began.
Despite the scale of the assault, there were no reports of fatalities or mass casualties. Ukraine’s air defences successfully intercepted 460 drones and 19 out of 20 missiles fired during the overnight barrage, the military said.
The latest wave of attacks comes as Russia intensifies its offensive and continues to reject international calls for a ceasefire. Ukrainian officials say the sustained air assaults demonstrate Moscow’s unwillingness to engage in serious peace negotiations.
In a counterstrike, Ukraine targeted a Russian electronics factory believed to produce components for drones. Russian local authorities confirmed the facility was forced to halt production temporarily following the Ukrainian attack.
