RURAL INFRASTRUCTURE KEY TO REDUCING URBAN MIGRATION – FCT MINISTER

Date:

Barr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stressed the importance of improving rural infrastructure to curb the trend of urban migration.

The Minister made the remarks during the flag-off of the 15-kilometer Abuja-Lokoja Pai road construction in the Kwali Area Council. This project is the final of four road projects launched by the Minister in the past month.

Wike noted that improving infrastructure in rural areas will not only stimulate economic activities but also reduce the pressure on urban centers, thereby addressing some of the challenges contributing to insecurity.

In his address, the Etsu of Kwali, HRH Luka Ayedo, praised the Minister’s efforts to improve the living standards of Kwali residents. He also called for the rehabilitation of the Government Science and Technical College, Kwali, to enhance educational development in the area.

Responding, Barr. Wike directed the Mandate Secretary of Education to visit the school and assess the rehabilitation needs.
