Richarlison has approached FIFA in an attempt to terminate his contract with Tottenham after being left out of the club’s 25-man Premier League squad.
The Brazilian forward believes his exclusion from Tottenham’s top-flight plans gives him grounds to seek an early end to the final year of his contract.
The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a return to Everton before the summer transfer window closed but later rejected an opportunity to reunite with manager David Moyes.
Richarlison spent four years at Everton between 2018 and 2022, scoring 53 goals in 152 appearances.
He later described Everton as his “favourite team” in a social media statement while criticising Tottenham’s handling of negotiations over a possible return to the club.
