The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has postponed Real Madrid’s away fixture against Valencia in La Liga this weekend due to severe flooding that has claimed over 95 lives in eastern Spain.
Villarreal’s home match against Rayo Vallecano was also suspended.
La Liga made a request to the RFEF to delay Valencia and Villarreal’s matches scheduled for Saturday, along with three second-division games involving clubs from the affected areas.
The RFEF confirmed in a statement that competitions at all levels, including 11-a-side and indoor football, would be postponed in the Valencia region.
Earlier in the week, the federation had also suspended several Copa del Rey first-round matches, including Valencia’s game against Parla Escuela, due to the catastrophic flooding.
As a tribute, a moment of silence will be observed during La Liga matches this weekend, including the Catalan derby between Barcelona and Espanyol.
