American coach Randy Waldrum has resigned from his role as head coach of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons.
The 67-year-old cited his wife’s health issues as the primary reason for his departure.
Waldrum explained that the past few weeks have been particularly challenging following the Olympics, due to his wife’s health concerns and the associated worries.
Waldrum was appointed head coach of the Super Falcons on October 5, 2020. During his tenure, he led the team to a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Africa Women’s Nations Cup in Morocco.
The Super Falcons also had a commendable performance at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they were eliminated by England in the Round of 16.
