President Bola Tinubu is expected to travel to Beijing in early September for a significant diplomatic visit, where he will meet with the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping.
According to a statement from presidential spokesman, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, while the exact date of departure has not been confirmed, the visit will feature a series of critical meetings aimed at bolstering economic ties and addressing security concerns.
President Tinubu’s agenda includes discussions with his Chinese counterpart and meetings with CEOs from ten major corporations.
These talks are expected to result in the signing of bilateral agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including green economy initiatives, blue economic development, and national planning.
Additionally, the visit will focus on advancing key infrastructure projects, such as the completion of the Abuja to Ibadan segment of the Lagos-Kaduna standard gauge railway.
Other important topics to be discussed include developments in information technology, the refining sector, oil and gas, and satellite technology. National, regional, and international security issues will also be on the table during the discussions.
