President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched the Yobe State Agricultural Empowerment Programme in Damaturu, as part of efforts to boost food security and economic growth across the country.
The President represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, identified the programme as central to his administration’s efforts to boost food security, create jobs, and diversify the economy through agriculture.
He highlighted that the initiative will not only increase agricultural output but also involve more Nigerians in driving the economy.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to modernising both agriculture and the livestock industry.
Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, reaffirmed support for President Tinubu’s administration while acknowledging challenges confronting the State, particularly in agriculture.
Items distributed included tractors, four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, and double cabin 4-wheel drive vehicles.
Others included ox-drawn ploughs, livestock, hand-push planters as well as hand-push ploughs, and hand-push tillers. Also distributed were solar-powered water pumps, assorted seeds, and bags of fertiliser.
