President Tinubu Hails Jonathan on Prestigious Sunhak Peace Prize Win

Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated former President Goodluck Jonathan on being awarded the 2025 Sunhak Peace Founders’ Award, recognizing his enduring contributions to peace and democracy in Africa.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Dr. Jonathan’s statesmanship, particularly his historic acceptance of the 2015 election results, which reinforced Nigeria’s democratic tradition.

“Dr. Jonathan’s unwavering commitment to peace and democracy has earned him global admiration. His exemplary conduct during Nigeria’s critical democratic transition remains a benchmark for leadership in Africa,” President Tinubu stated.

The Sunhak Peace Prize, instituted by the Sunhak Peace Prize Committee, honors individuals and organizations making exceptional contributions to global peace and human development. The committee cited Dr. Jonathan’s mediation efforts, conflict resolution initiatives, and democratic advocacy across Africa as key factors in his selection.

President Tinubu also commended the Sunhak Committee for spotlighting leaders who advance global peace, noting that Dr. Jonathan’s award reflects positively on Nigeria’s role in promoting stability and democratic values worldwide.
