President Bola Tinubu has announced automatic employment for 774 fellows of the National Health Programme following their one-year tenure. The President made the declaration during the presidential launch of the programme in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Addressing the young fellows tasked with monitoring primary healthcare centres (PHCs) across all 774 local government areas, Tinubu stated, “You are hired,” reaffirming his commitment to supporting universal health coverage and revitalizing Nigeria’s primary healthcare system.
The announcement came after the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, urged federal, state, and local governments to integrate the fellows into the workforce.
The National Health Fellows Scheme, a key initiative under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to drive innovation and meaningful change in the health sector. The fellows were selected on merit-based criteria from over 359,000 applicants.
