President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has rescheduled his official visit to Kaduna State and will instead visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in a renewed effort to address the persistent communal conflicts that have plagued the state.
The President’s visit is expected to provide him with a firsthand assessment of the crisis, which has led to the loss of lives and widespread destruction across several communities in Benue.
According to a statement issued from the State House, President Tinubu will hold a town hall meeting with traditional rulers, political leaders, religious and community figures, as well as youth groups, to chart a path towards sustainable peace and reconciliation.
Ahead of the visit, key figures, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, security and intelligence chiefs, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees, have already been deployed to Benue to lay the groundwork for the high-level engagement.
The President had earlier condemned the violence in Benue and urged leaders and citizens to embrace peace, unity, and mutual understanding. He also expressed condolences to families affected by the crisis.
Meanwhile, Tinubu’s previously scheduled visit to Kaduna State—where he was expected to commission several government projects—will now take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
