President Bola Tinubu has departed Abuja for a working visit to China, with a brief stopover in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement on Thursday.
According to the statement, President Tinubu is set to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping and engage with Chinese business leaders during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Accompanying him on the trip are senior government officials.
The visit to China comes amid ongoing legal disputes involving Nigerian assets.
Recently, a French court ruled in favor of Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, a Chinese firm, allowing the seizure of three presidential jets belonging to the Nigerian government.
These jets were taken as “security” in connection with an arbitration award tied to a longstanding judicial matter between the Chinese company and the Ogun State government.
