English Premier League referee David Coote has been dismissed after videos surfaced showing him making offensive remarks about Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool, as well as allegedly sniffing what appeared to be white powder.
Professional Game Match Officials Limited announced last month, shortly after the first video emerged, that Coote had been suspended pending an investigation. On Monday, they confirmed that his position had been deemed untenable.
Coote was also removed from duty by UEFA and is facing a separate investigation by the Football Association regarding his comments about Klopp.
In a statement issued on Monday, the referees’ governing body stated that Coote’s actions were found to be in serious violation of his employment contract, leading to his dismissal.
