The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of two internationally wanted criminals—a human trafficking kingpin sought by Belgium and an armed robbery suspect linked to Dubai-based crimes—marking a major victory in transnational crime fighting.
Human Trafficking Ringleader Captured
- Felix Omoregie (alias “Eghosa Johnson Omoregie”), declared wanted via INTERPOL Red Notice since 2023, was arrested in Benin City, Edo State.
- He allegedly trafficked young Nigerian women, including minors, to Europe for sexual exploitation, using voodoo oaths and fabricated debts (€20,000–€50,000) to control victims.
- Omoregie, convicted in absentia in Belgium (2021), faces arraignment at the Federal High Court, Benin. A photocopied Canadian passport found at his hideout suggested planned relocation.
Dubai-Based Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended
- Okwudili Sabastine Ezeje, 37, was arrested in Nsukka, Enugu State, for crimes spanning armed robbery, drug trafficking, and cultism in the UAE.
- Intelligence revealed he remotely coordinated robberies, including hits on Dubai Mall’s grocery store and currency exchanges in Sharjah.
- The arrest followed collaboration between Nigerian police, the National Security Adviser’s office, and Dubai Police.
Police Vow Continued Crackdown
Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun praised operatives for their diligence, stating: “These arrests send a clear message: criminals will find no safe haven in Nigeria.” The Force urged public vigilance against organized crime.
