Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has called on both the private and public sectors to actively recruit qualified candidates through the newly launched Arise Youth Employment Portal. Speaking at the event held at Ibom Icon Hotel in Uyo, the governor emphasized that the initiative will significantly reduce unemployment, lessen dependence on the government, and boost state development.
Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Pastor Umo Eno announced plans to establish a state inter-labour committee. This committee will ensure companies and industries operating in the state prioritize the employment of residents from all 31 local government areas, irrespective of political affiliations.
Additionally, the governor revealed plans to create a state bureau of statistics, which will provide accurate and up-to-date data to monitor the progress of his administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to empowering youths through initiatives designed to enhance their skills and make them productive members of society.
During the portal presentation, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on ICT, explained the registration process and assured applicants of a seamless experience.
Stakeholders lauded the governor’s efforts, expressing enthusiasm about the positive impact of the initiative on the local community.
