More than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of 400 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to results released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday.

Special Cases
JAMB permitted 40,247 underage candidates to take the exam under its “exceptional ability” policy. However, only 467 (1.16%) met the benchmark for exceptional performance. Their final eligibility will depend on performance in subsequent assessment stages.

- Results for blind candidates and others in special categories are still being processed.

Crackdown on Malpractice
The board reported biometric verification challenges for some candidates, who will be rescheduled for exams if cleared. A total of 97 candidates have been penalized for infractions, while 2,157 cases remain under investigation.
