20-Year-Old Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Father to Death in Jigawa

A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, has been arrested in Jigawa State for allegedly killing his father, Salisu Abubakar, in a violent attack.

The incident occurred in the Bakin Kasuwa Quarters of Sara District, Gwaram Local Government Area, around 10 a.m. on Monday.

According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Shi’isu Adam, the suspect used a machete to inflict fatal wounds on his father’s shoulder, neck, and chest. The victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Sara and his team swiftly responded, securing the scene and taking the suspect into custody.

“The corpse was later released to the relatives for burial,” Adam stated.

The police recovered the weapon used in the attack, and the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, AT Abdullahi, has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for further investigation.

The commissioner assured the public that justice would be served, saying, “Upon completion of investigation, the suspect would be arraigned in court to face the full weight of the law. The police command is determined to ensure justice is served in this heinous crime.”

Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
