The Osun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Wale Ogunsanmi, for allegedly stabbing Bishop Shina Olaribigbe, the leader of Rapture Empowerment International, to death in Osogbo.

The tragic incident occurred on January 1, 2025, around 11:25 p.m., at the residence of Ogunsanmi’s estranged wife.

According to police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola, Ogunsanmi allegedly attacked the bishop upon discovering him at his wife’s house.

“We were informed that the pastor was at the woman’s house when the husband arrived. The husband stabbed him several times, and he died. It is believed the husband acted on suspicion that the pastor was having an affair with his wife,” Opalola said.

Reports reveal that Ogunsanmi and his wife had been separated for about a year due to marital issues. Bishop Olaribigbe was reportedly mediating the couple’s disputes before their separation.

On the night of the incident, Ogunsanmi is alleged to have broken into his wife’s residence and attacked the bishop, who was said to be in the bedroom at the time.

Police officers from the Dugbe Division swiftly arrived at the scene, arrested Ogunsanmi, and recovered the weapon used in the attack.

The bishop’s body has been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy. The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.
