Chinese Foreign Minister to Visit Nigeria, Three Other African Nations

Date:

Nigeria is set to host Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the Chinese Foreign Minister, during his African tour this month.

The visit, scheduled from January 5 to January 11, 2025, will also include stops in Namibia, the Republic of the Congo, and Chad.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning made the announcement on Friday, noting that the visits were at the invitation of the respective countries.

This marks the 35th consecutive year that China’s Foreign Minister has chosen Africa as the destination for their first overseas trip of the year, underscoring the significance of China-Africa relations.

The tour is part of Wang Yi’s annual routine and is expected to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between China and the host nations.
