The Ogun State Government has shut down Perfect Light, a private nursery and primary school located in Eyinogbe, Sagamu Local Government Area, following allegations of sexual assault against the school’s proprietor.
It was alleged that the proprietor sexually abused a minor, resulting in bleeding and damage to her private parts. The proprietor has been arrested by the police, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Ronke Soyombo, visited the school and expressed disgust at the alleged abuse and the deplorable conditions under which the pupils were learning. She assured the community that the government, in collaboration with the Ogun State Police Command, would ensure a thorough investigation and legal action against the perpetrator.
Soyombo also affirmed the government’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for all students, whether in public or private schools. She urged parents to take good care of their children and protect them from social vices.
The Ministry of Education is working with the State Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to conduct medical examinations and ensure the well-being of the affected child.
Parents were assured that other students from the community would be enrolled in the nearest public primary school in Igode to continue their education without disruption. Soyombo warned perpetrators of such acts to leave the state, as the current administration will not tolerate such crimes.
