Novak Djokovic Dismisses Hamstring Concerns Ahead of BNP Paribas Open

Date:

Serbian tennis legend Novak Djokovic has reassured fans ahead of the BNP Paribas Open that he is in good health. He addressed concerns raised by a viral video of him hobbling through an airport after last month’s tournament in Doha, clarifying that it was unrelated to the hamstring injury that forced him to retire from his Australian Open semifinal match in January.

The Number 6 seed for the tournament, Djokovic said he is feeling strong and is excited to return to Indian Wells and Miami this year.

The 37-year-old Djokovic, who lost in the first round in Doha to Matteo Berrettini, drew attention when the video surfaced on social media. He has not competed since.

After receiving a first-round bye, Djokovic is set to begin his campaign at Indian Wells on Saturday, where he is a five-time champion, most recently in 2016. He will be aiming for his 100th ATP title, a feat that would make him only the third player in history to achieve it, following in the footsteps of Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer.
