NNPC Owes Petroleum Marketers Nearly N15bn — IPMAN President

Date:

The National President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Garima, has revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited owes petroleum marketers close to N15 billion.

Garima disclosed this during a recent media interview.

He stated that since NNPC increased its pump price, marketers have not been able to load a single truck of petroleum products, leaving their funds tied up. He said the money has been with NNPC for nearly three months without the product or a refund.

Garima urged NNPC to supply the product at the same rate it receives from the Dangote Refinery or refund the marketers so they can purchase directly from the refinery.

Despite the commencement of loading Premium Motor Spirit at the Dangote Refinery, many filling stations across Nigeria have yet to receive fuel. In its Independence Day message on October 1, 2024, IPMAN called on the Federal Government to allow its members to directly source petroleum products to ease the ongoing challenges in the sector.
